The Norwegian driver Alexander Hvaal finished best of the SuperCar trio with a fine fourth place in the SuperCar final. Russian Red Bull driver, Timur Timerzyanov, excelled all weekend and was on pole position in the Final and leaves Portugal as the Championship leader despite having to retire due to a puncture.
Timmy Hansen ended his race with a fourth place in the semi-final, but was upset as a jump start by another competitor was let passed through.

“ Frustration is the word to summarise this weekend” Hansen Motorsport team manager Kenneth Hansen says.
“Yes, we struggled a bit yesterday, not helped by varying weather conditions, but today we were on the pace and right up there to challenge for victory with Timur’s superlative form”.

Alexander staged a fantastic recovery after a disappointing qualification performance and managed to progress from a last row start position in the semi-final to finish in third place and thus elevate himself to the Final. A committed performance in the Final achieved his best drive of the weekend and third position only eluded him by metres.

“ An excellent result for Alexander which was much deserved as he never gave up and fought to the end” comments Kenneth.

Timur Timerzyanov won the intermediate classification scoring the maximum 16 championship points. He also won the semi-final putting himself on pole position for the final. Petter Solberg, joining him on the front row of the grid, jump started and had to take the joker lap twice. In the restart Timur lead into the first corner followed by Solberg. On the second lap Timur was a second ahead of the Norwegian. Unfortunately he collected a puncture which put paid to his chances of victory and he was placed last in the final.
Englishman Liam Doran came through and won the final followed by the two Norwegians Mats Lysen and Petter Solberg. Alexander Hvaal was on Solberg’s tail and took fourth position. Davy Jeanney from France came home in fifth place.

Timmy Hansen had a challenging weekend, but was progressively improving in the later heats. He was really on the move today and lost out on a position in the final by a tiny margin. As a positive Timmy accumulated valuable championship points and currently lies in third position in the overall championship standings.

Swede Eric Färén, in the Super1600 category, finished second in the final behind another promising young Swede, Kevin Eriksson. Eric is now in second place in the overall standings in Super1600 with 45 points to Ulrik Linnemann’s 46.

Next race will be in Hungary on May 25-26.

Red Bull athlete Timur Timerzyanov is aiming for a top position this weekend (Apr 27 – 28), as the FIA European Rallycross Championship visits Montalègre, Portugal for round two of the nine-event series.

The reigning European Rallycross Champion currently lies fourth in the championship standings, after a puncture in the final at round one earlier this month ruled out his chance of victory.

“Lydden Hill was a mixture of ups and downs” Said the Russian star. “We were really fast, but a puncture in the final meant we didn’t finish with the result we were capable of.”

Driving the Hansen Motorsport prepared Citroen DS3, Timerzyanov has historically gone well at Montalegre, and is hoping to claim a good haul of points to add to his championship tally come Sunday night.

“It shows how competitive we are that I am fourth in the points table and we didn’t have a very good event at Lydden. The field in Supercar is tough this year, there are lots of good drivers, but our whole team is very strong and we know we can fight right at the front.” Said the 26 year old driver.

“Timur has the speed and he went well in Portugal last time we were there.” Said Kenneth Hansen, Team Principle of Hansen Motorsport. “Last year he didn’t even compete in the first round of the championship and still won the title with a race to go. With a good score this weekend he will right at the front of the championship table.”

Action gets underway at Montalegre, Portugal at 12.00 on Saturday (Apr 27) with the finals starting at 15.00 Sunday (Apr 28).

Hansen starred at round one, causing a stir in the paddock by setting qualifying times over two seconds faster than his far more experienced rivals. Eventually claiming third position in the final of what was his first event as a full time rallycross driver, Hansen is aware that he faces a new challenge heading to a brand new circuit for the young Swede this weekend.

“Generally I think that Portugal will be an even bigger challenge than Lydden was. It’s a track that I have never been to, and the characteristics of the circuit are more like you just need to carry a good speed and rhythm through it rather than braking late and using the optimal line like in England.” He said.

Despite having considerably less rallycross experience than his fellow competitors, Hansen is settling into race mode quickly, and has been training hard for the Montalègre event.

“I have one good race under my belt now, and people have seen that I’m quick, so I don’t have to prove anything in that respect. I can approach Portugal in my own way and knowing that is quite relaxing. I’m peaking my training now and I’ve studied the track very much, so I feel 100% ready!” he said.

Currently second in the overall standings, and highest placed of the permanent championship competitors, Hansen knows what is important for his championship challenge in Portugal.

“Getting to the final is what we are aiming for. It will be hard because I have never been to the track but being consistent and championship points are the most important thing.”

Action gets underway at Montalègre, Portugal at 12.00 on Saturday (Apr 27) with the finals starting at 15.00 Sunday (Apr 28).

With RallycrossRX facing a bright future, with increased interest from many facets of the sport, Hansen Motorsport is growing with it. During the course of formulating our long term business plan it became abundantly clear that we would need a new home to support our planned expansion and therefore we have moved to a new team headquarters.

Commenting on the move, Susann Hansen, Commercial Director of Hansen Motorsport, said:

“We have decided to make this consider investment in the future development of our team as a direct result of the confidence that we have in the new commercial promotion of the sport. Hansen Motorsport has always been to the forefront of the push to bring professionalism to Rallycross and our new team HQ facility will ensure that we will continue to deliver world class performance for our sponsors and partner companies “.

Whilst our venerable, existing facility had served us well and was the base that has brought us no less than 16 European RallycrossRX titles it was simply too confined to contain our vision for the future development of the team.

Hence our move across town to our new facility in Götene. Our vision is to create a motorsport centre of excellence which will support our current business and serve as the foundation for the further development of it.

Our new team HQ is located at Västerbyvägen 19, S-533 32 Götene, Sweden.

Winning through from the qualification rounds by taking three out of four heat wins, whilst setting both fastest lap time and best overall time before going on to bring home a well deserved third place in the final.

Timmy won the intermediate results and took a maximum 16 championship points total with him to the semi-finals where he started on pole position. A transmission problem in his Citroen DS3 tempered his lightning pace but despite this he secured second place in the semi-final. Owing to the same issue Timmy was unable to sustain his flat out pace in the final, but through determined driving skills and clever race strategy he secured a fine third position adding another 9 points to his event total.

”Even if I could not turn my actual speed into a victory, I feel that I have ably demonstrated to everyone that I am here to challenge for the overall Championship title” Timmy comments, with a smile. ” I am very pleased with the both my own and the team’s performance this weekend as a whole and I eargerly awake the next round in Portugal ”. He adds with enthusiasm.

Timmy leaves Lydden Hill with the largest points total of the permanent drivers entered for all rounds of the Super Car Championship.
American Tanner Foust took the overall victory after winning both his semi-final and the final.
Finish driver Jussi-Petteri Leppihalme came in on a fine second place in his maiden Super Car drive.

Timur Timerzyanov, Hansen Motorsport’s reigning FIA European Rallycross Champion in SuperCars had a firm grip on victory as he stormed the track in his brand new Citroen DS3 Super Car with his customary winning speed. A puncture incurred by clipping a kerb too hard unfortunately ended his charge as he came home in fifth place overall.

” It is a shame because I felt I had a good chance of achieving victory” Timur summarises his feelings after the final race.

The third SuperCar driver in the Hansen team, Alexander Hvaal, had the worst possible start to his championship campaign as, an unprecedented, two engine failures robbed him of a chance to participate in the finals. Alexander was fastest in the Monday morning warm up session and was a very real prospect for inclusion in the final.

Our Super1600 driver Eric Färén had his best race ever event taking third place in the final. He started on pole position after winning both the qualification and his semi final.
After performing excellent starts all weekend his start in the final was not one of his best and he was forced to take second place in the drag to the first corner. Danish driver Ulrik Linneman consistency secured his victory in the Super 1600 class final. Notwithstanding his third position Eric can take so many positives out of this weekend as both the car’s and his performance were on a completely different plateau to last season thanks to the upgrades to the car in the off season.

Round one of the championship takes place at Lydden Hill, England this weekend (Mar 31 – Apr 1).

”Its a dream come true!” Said Timerzyanov. ”I feel honoured to become a Red Bull driver and to join such a respected company, with a great band of skilled athletes.”

The young Russian driver (26) won the championship last season with one event to go, behind the wheel of a Hansen Motorsport run Citroen DS3 supercar. For 2013, the team have constructed a brand new version of the car for Timerzyanov.

”This season is expected to be one of the toughest and most interesting for years,” said Hansen Motorsport team principle, Kenneth Hansen. ”Having such a well renowned and respected sponsor in Red Bull can only help Timurs chances.”

Along with welcoming Red Bull to his title challenge, Timerzyanov continues to be supported up longstanding sponsor KamaEuro.

”It is going to be really tough this season. The first round is always very interesting because you don’t know how people will get on after the development over the winter. It will also be interesting to see how the new young drivers get on, but I with the support of Red Bull, KamaEuro and Hansen Motorsport I think we can be on the pace straight away.” Said Timerzyanov.

Reigning FIA European Rallycross Champion in SuperCars, Timur Timerzyanov (26) from Russia, will take on the title fight with the same team that took him to the 2012 title, Hansen Motorsport, but with new sponsor Red Bull.

”It’s a dream come true” said Timur. ” I am feeling honoured to become a Red Bull driver and to join such a respected company and band of skilled athletes. Having Red Bull and sponsor KamaEuro behind me, I am motivated even harder to push to retain the RX title”

Timerzyanov won last years SuperCar Championship with one race to go, under the watchful eye of Hansen Motorsports, Swedish team manager, and 14 times European Champion Kenneth Hansen.

”The 2013 season is expected to be one of the toughest and most interesting RallycrossRX seasons in recent years. Having such a renowed and respected sponsor as Red Bull backing Timur, not only strengthens his chances to hold on to the gold medal, but also shows support for the new look RX Championship”.

Timur will be driving a brand new Hansen Motorsport built Citroën DS3, which he will test next week before the first race of the 2013 Championship at Lydden Hill, UK next weekend (31st March/1st April)

I believe that the right conditions exist now to enable me to grab the title, which is the ultimate objective”, Eric says.

Färén completed his very first season in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2012, and showed great potential with several prominent results. He continues to drive for Hansen Motorsport in the same car. “Eric had a very good first year in ERC. He is a talented driver and I think he’s ready for podiums as he now has the experience required. Eric has a strong will to progress and that’s what we like a lot about him.”, team boss Kenneth Hansen explains.

There is a lot of positive news for the coming season. ”The car has been completely rebuilt and updated with a lot of new technology that we strongly believe in”, Eric explains. Eric has also been selected to represent the Swedish National Team in 2013. Eric will receive a lot of assistance from the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation which will further increase his chances for a successful season. ”It’s a great honour to be selected, and to drive for the National Team. I’m glad the Swedish ASN supports my efforts to reach the top echelons of Rallycross”, Eric says.

Färén began his motorsport career in Karting, before moving on to compete as a Junior in both Rallycross and Circuit Racing (JTCC). Now he’s one of the up and coming Swedish stars in international Rallycross.

“The sport is growing, and will continue to be even bigger in 2013. I am working towards a long term goal and I’m happy to do another season in the FIA European Rallycross Championship. I’m incredibly motivated for the challenge ahead, and I will not be happy with anything other than achieving gold”, says Eric.

The first race takes place on March 31- April 1 at Lydden Hill in England

The team is delighted to take on the challenge of one of the most interesting and growing series in motor sport with a driver line up that is a blend of youthful energy and experience but all inspired by a similar goal to be the best.

Hansen Motorsport will field no less than three Citroën DS3’s in the SuperCar category, one Citroen C2 in the Super1600 class and one car will contest the JRX Cup competition .

Timur Timerzyanov (26) from Russia will have a new Citroen DS3 SuperCar to launch his defence of his FIA European Rallycross Champion title.

Alexander Hvaal (20) a talented driver from Norway, fresh from his rookie year last year, will build on that experience this year on his way to the top echelons of the sport.

Timmy Hansen (20) from Sweden brings with him a wealth of experience gleaned from single seater racing and adds a new perspective as to how RallycrossRX success can be achieved.

Eric Färén (22) also from Sweden in a Citroen C2 Super1600, will be followed with interest as he now has the all the elements as his disposal to show his full potential.

Kevin Hansen (14) a young Swedish guy with a winning attitude and the victor of the inaugural JRX Cup in 2012. He might be the youngest driver in the team but he is already skilful and determined enough to take another JRX title.

Team manager Kenneth Hansen comments: “I am confident that we have made a great choice of drivers who are individually strong and competitive but who are also great team players and it is that collective effort that will move our whole team forward.”

Hansen Motorsport was delighted to participate in the media and test session in preparation for the 2013 European Rallycross Championship which took place on February 21st and 22nd last at Lydden Circuit, England. It included a presentation of the 15 permanent drivers that will contest all nine rounds of the 2013 championship in the SuperCar category. These 15 drivers will be supplemented by, an event specific , combination of wild card celebrity drivers together with nationally important contestants.
Added to this was the exciting news that no less than five of this year’s events will be streamed live on TV by the renowned satellite broadcaster Viasat.

Kenneth Hansen commented: “ Everyone at Hansen Motorsport is delighted to participate at the launch and test event. We have assembled our most comprehensive and formidable challenge ever in recognition of the advent of the most professional promotion our sport has ever enjoyed. We are all committed to making RallycrossRX the most spectacular motor sport genre in the world.”
