The basics

Hansen Motorsport has used multiple evolutions of the Peugeot 208 since its introduction in 2014, winning world championships in 2015, 2019 and 2021 with its internal combustion-engined predecessors.

For 2022, Hansen Motorsport has taken on its greatest ever engineering challenge by building an all-electric competition vehicle for the first time: the Peugeot 208 RX1e.

Our new 208 RX1e is one of the fastest accelerating cars on the planet, going from 0-60mph in only 1.8 seconds. That’s faster than a Formula 1 car!

That incredible performance is thanks to the RX1e electric powertrains fitted to World RX vehicles. Power has been increased by 100bhp compared to the traditional engines fitted to our 208 between 2014-2021, and there’s a small torque boost compared to the old cars too. All that combined means the 208 RX1e is the fastest World RX car ever built.

There’s more than just the power to get right on these new cars. The chassis is an evolution of the excellent 208 WRX from previous years, providing a stable foundation as Hansen Motorsport enters this exciting new electric era. There’s also the important work done by Öhlins with its dampers: there’s lots of bumps and jumps that litter rallycross tracks to soak up, but also hold firm when tackling asphalt sections and retain traction on loose asphalt turns.
