THE FIRST CARBON NEUTRAL RALLYCROSS TEAM

Hansen Motorsport is the first rallycross team to be a member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Sports for Climate Action initiative as a signatory to its Framework. The Sports for Climate Action initiative calls on sporting organisations to acknowledge the contribution of the sports sector to climate change and our responsibility to strive towards climate neutrality for a safer planet. Through collective action and bold leadership, we have the power to make this fast and drastic transformation. By signing the Framework, we plan to be more proactive in playing our part to ensure the sports sector is on the path to a low-carbon future.
The Paris Agreement targets a 1.5°C limit to global warming compared to pre-industrial levels, an essential goal for the survival of our planet’s delicate ecosystem.
In line with the five core principles enshrined in the Framework and the aims of the Paris Agreement, our team will strive to:
Promote greater environmental responsibility
Reduce the overall climate impact from sports
Use our platform to educate for climate action
Promote sustainable and responsible consumption
Advocate for climate action through our communications
With this in mind, we hope our commitment will inspire our fans, community, and government to raise their climate ambition in a united effort to limit global warming to 1.5°C. This is a race we can — and must — win to avoid significantly worsening the risk of droughts, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people.

The first three-star rallycross team

Hansen Motorsport has set itself as the benchmark for sustainable practices in rallycross, becoming the first team to achieve FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation. FIA Environmental Accreditation sets rigorous sustainability targets for motorsport participants to achieve, covering 17 different action points to ensure the environmental impact of our motorsport activities is managed and minimised wherever possible. These areas include:
  • A clear commitment and leadership to environmental management
  • Reducing our usage of energy and water
  • Creating safeguards against potential pollution caused by racing activities
  • Implementing an environment-first procurement policy and supply chain
  • Identifying methods to improve sustainability of team logistics
A key pillar of our Three-Star Environmental Accreditation has come from the development of an ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system, which ensures that our ambitious environmental goals are met through proper planning and execution. Renewable energy –  Hansen Motorsport has converted its team headquarters to run on 100% renewable energy, a key step towards reducing our carbon footprint.
Electric fleet –  Our existing fleet of passenger vehicles – and as technology advances, our freight vehicles too – will be phased out and replaced with fully electric alternatives.
Sustainable materials –  We are increasing the use of recycled and recyclable materials and working towards the elimination of single-use plastic in our supply chain.
Measure our impact –  We’ve developed a comprehensive sustainability report for 2024, marking our third consecutive year of carbon neutral status and identifying areas for further improvement.

Hansen encourages everyone to think for themselves, to see risks and opportunities. Wanting to improve and become better is within our team’s DNA. Hansen will have its environmental goals – to reduce, to reuse, and recycle – with us in the same way as we have the goal to win races and championships.
