Hansen World RX Team targets strong start at World RX season-opener
Returning to its home track at Höljes this week for the opening double-header of the 2024 FIA World Rallycross Championship (6-7 July), the most historic outfit in rallycross will be looking to channel their past success at the venue into a strong start to the 2024 season.
The last time the team, part of the wider Hansen Motorsport organisation, visited Höljes in Sweden for the legendary ‘Magic Weekend’ event also marks the last time the Peugeot 208 RX1e cars were put to the test in the rallycross arena.
2019 World RX Champion Timmy Hansen secured second at the 2023 World RX of Sweden, having taken his first win at Höljes in 2021 as part of a thrilling Hansen 1-2 with his brother and 2016 European Rallycross Champion Kevin Hansen. The siblings are hungrier than ever to repeat that performance on home soil, off the back of a strong finish to last season and a productive winter at Hansen Motorsport Headquarters.
Höljes is also where the World RX teams took part in the first official electric test. On this occasion the Hansen squad will be putting their all-electric Peugeot 208s to the test against combustion counterparts as part of the newly introduced ‘Battle of Technologies’.
With testing getting underway today (1-2 July) and racing commencing this weekend (6-7 July), watch the action unfold on Rally.TV, via the World RX website, and on the Hansen team’s social media channels.
Kenneth Hansen, Team Principal at Hansen World RX Team, said: “We’ve really been looking forward to getting back on track again. With the ‘Battle of Technologies’, running electric against ICE cars, it is very tricky to predict what will happen. We have worked on as many things as we have been allowed to, and we feel that we have improved the car, so hopefully we can be fighting for victories right from the start this weekend.”
Kevin Hansen, Hansen World RX Team driver, said: “It feels great getting the season underway in Höljes. It’s the Magic Weekend, it’s the home race, and it has been a year since we last drove the RX1e cars. I can’t wait to experience the power of those cars again and to see how we stand against the ICE cars in the first race.
“So, there are a lot of exciting new features and a lot of great drivers, and it’s a new season with a fresh start. We had a great end to last year, so hopefully our learnings over the winter and technical development have taken us a step forward and we can compete for the world championship.”

We have been very focused on improving our package since the last time we were on track, so to come back with this car now and get all our updates in place during the test, while also getting used to how the new tyre works, will be a very intense process.
“I think the new tyre will be a big change. It hasn’t been talked about a lot, but that will change things a lot in terms of how we need to drive the car, especially when we only have two days of testing. That is a short time to get used to things, but I hope we put on a good show for the fans and, on top of that, that it goes well for us!
