HANSEN WORLD RX TEAM PARTNERS WITH UTIMACO FOR CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH

The Hansen World RX Team is delighted to partner with leading global IT security solution provider Utimaco within its 2022 FIA World Rallycross Championship programme. As part of the exciting new relationship, the four-time World Championship winning Hansen team and Utimaco have aligned in an effort to shed light on the underappreciated field of automotive cybersecurity, especially through Cybersecurity Awareness Month this October, utilising the Hansen team’s presence in the thrilling and dynamic discipline of rallycross as a marketing platform, with sport embarking on a brand new all-electric era in 2022.                                   Recent studies in Europe have revealed that while members of the public are enthusiastic about the digital features in their vehicles, many have worries about the security of those vehicles, whether that is vehicles being tracked, or payment information being taken. The findings highlight the need for vehicle manufacturers and security providers to educate users about their security systems while also striving to constantly improve and evolve technologies. Utimaco’s involvement in the Hansen World RX Team is a strategic decision to draw attention to how vehicles are increasingly incorporating digital devices and the need for added security, while also raising awareness of security present in vehicles and best practices for keeping vehicles safe.                                   Cybersecurity Awareness Month takes place each October as a collaboration between the U.S. government and industry to ensure that every American has the resources they need to feel safer online. Similarly, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) is partnering with the Commission and Member States in carrying out #CyberSecMonth. The EU’s annual campaign is dedicated to promoting cybersecurity among EU citizens and organisations, and providing up-to-date online security information through awareness raising activities and sharing of good practices. The spotlight placed on the FIA World Rallycross Championship and Hansen team in the series is the perfect place for Utimaco to spread its message.

Ansgar STEDEN Utimaco – Chief Revenue Officer

Ansgar Steden, Utimaco   “Hansen Motorsport is an innovator in its field, always pushing the boundaries and developing new technologies. Their development of a fully electric rallycross car shows that, like ourselves, they have an eye to the future of their field. We see this as another step in pushing the envelope around cybersecurity in the automotive space. Every new car sold today has at least some kind of wireless connectivity, and some have dozens of connected components often sourced from multiple OEM manufacturers. Without high-grade digital security this could be an extremely dangerous situation, but we’re making it possible for drivers to know that they are safe when driving.”

Kenneth HANSEN Hansen World RX Team – Team Principal

Kenneth Hansen “We are very proud to be sponsored by Utimaco and to carry their logo on our Peugeot 208 RX1e cars. We work constantly striving to be the best in our field, which if of course the highest level in rallycross, and Utimaco is a company that has been in the lead when it comes to cybersecurity for decades now. We recognise the important work that they are doing to secure vehicles on the road, and look forward to continuing our open discussions to share our experiences from our own fields together.” To find out more about the partnership and what Utimaco is doing this Cybersecurity Awareness Month, visit: https://utimaco.com/
