Hansen World RX Team are touching down in Hungary for the second instalment of the World Rallycross Championship following a tricky weekend at Höljes, the season opener.

Despite both cars making it to the finals, the home team narrowly missed out on a podium step. However, the Hansen brothers are determined to move forward and take the top spots in Hungary.

Nicknamed the ‘Red Cauldron’ due to the distinctive colour of its unsealed surfaces, the Hungarian circuit joins the World RX calendar for the first time in 2024. Kenneth, Kevin and Timmy have all claimed victory in Hungary previously in various championships and look to continue their string of success this weekend.

Höljes marked the beginning of the ‘Battle of the Technologies’, where ICE motors running on sustainable fuel were pitched up against electric machinery, to fight it out on track. Hansen World RX will be looking to restore order in Nyirád and take the first electric victory of the season.

Kenneth Hansen, Team Principal at Hansen World RX Team, said: “We are looking forward to being back on track after the Swedish double-header. We were able to have both cars in the final for both races but unfortunately didn’t make it to the podium which is our target this time. Hungary is a very different circuit compared to Sweden, it is a challenging track with no room for mistakes so hopefully our preparation will convert to strong results.”

Kevin Hansen, Hansen World RX Team driver, added: “I’m looking forward to Hungary, it’s the first time I’ve been back since 2019 and last time out I had a race win in another series. It’s one of the more exciting tracks as it’s super narrow and quick – you could say it’s the Monaco track of rallycross as it is so narrow between the walls. Hopefully, this track suits our technology a bit better but we are well prepared and working hard to improve all the time. There are obviously restraints on how much we can improve our car over a season due to the regulations however we are doing our best to figure out a way forward to improve from Höljes.”

Timmy Hansen, Hansen World RX Team driver, noted: “Höljes was a bit more challenging than we hoped for, it seems like we’ve got to do a lot of work to understand the new tyre but as always there’s great motivation within the team. We’re pushing forward with new ideas so I’m excited to come to Hungary. We want to fight for one step higher in the results than we were in Sweden. Hungary is where I got my first ever win in Supercars back in 2013 and it’s the first time since then the championship returns so there is lots to look forward to.”
