This decision marks the first time that Hansen Motorsport will not be represented in World RX in over a decade, with the family-run team racing in every round since the championship’s inception in 2014. Founded over 35 years ago by rallycross legends Kenneth and Susann Hansen, the Swedish squad is one of the most successful entities in rallycross, with three World RX Teams’ titles and one Drivers’ title to its name. Despite a strong start to the new era of World RX, with the FIA’s investment in the sport, the team has been hampered by ongoing issues with a major partner. That situation has now forced the difficult decision to withdraw from the upcoming round of the championship. Current driver pairing, brothers Timmy and Kevin Hansen, have had a turbulent 2025 World RX season to date. Despite the recent challenges behind the scenes undoubtedly impacting their performance on and off the track, the team has still secured three podium finishes this season. This achievement reflects the dedication and effort of the entire team during a difficult time.Timmy currently sits in third place in the standings, with 55 points, whilst Kevin lies further down the table in sixth, holding 39 points. Racing is at the heart of the team, and it will continue its aim to be back on-track at the fifth round of the 2025 World RX Championship in Türkiye (20-21 September). Kenneth Hansen, Team Principal for Hansen World RX Team, said: “It is with regret that we as a team must make this announcement today. We have done everything within our power to get both cars back on track in Finland, however we have simply run out of time to make this possible. It will be difficult, but we will do everything we can to race later in the season. On behalf of the whole family, I’d like to thank our sponsors and fans for their continued support. This gives us the drive to carry on and look forward to a successful 2026 season.” The primary focus for Hansen Motorsport will now be shifted towards the 2026 season, where it will undoubtedly aspire to come back stronger than ever. Fans can continue to follow the journey of the team through the Hansen Brothers Podcast, which is released each Thursday, and through its social channels.
