Former FIA World Rallycross Champion
Timmy Hansen produced a consistently strong performance throughout the ninth round of the series at the
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, following his first win of the season the previous day, to again finish on the podium.
Second fastest in the single-lap SuperPole session, 13-time World RX race winner Hansen then set the second fastest time in both Heats 1 and 2 to be second in the Ranking classification.

With changes made to the setup of the
Hansen World RX Team’s all-electric Peugeot 208 RX1e ahead of the Progression session, Hansen won his race to secure pole position for the semi-final, from which he again seized the advantage to ensure a strong starting position in the final. In that main event, Hansen drove a strong race to finish second, another podium for the team in the first year of World RX’s more sustainable all-electric future.
For
Kevin Hansen it was another torrid event. Fifth in the Ranking classification, Hansen made a great start from the outside of the grid in the semi-final, but a slight touch from another car on the inside sent his Peugeot 208 into a half-spin. The Swedish driver saved the moment, but with the pace so high in World RX this season, he was unable to make it into the final.

The final round of the championship at the
Nurburgring in Germany in two weeks’ time [November 12-13]. Timmy Hansen lies second in the Drivers’ standings, while Kevin Hansen is fourth overall. Hansen World RX Team is second in the Teams’ Championship table.

Hansen World RX Team – Team Principal

“It’s been a weekend of two halves. For Timmy it’s gone well but for Kevin it has been difficult. But, he has also had times of good speed so for sure he deserved much better.
Timmy had good results, but we were disappointed on Sunday with our overall speed, we were second but far behind Johan Kristoffersson so we have a big job to do to be faster and to catch him.
That will not be done overnight, it’s something we really need to dig deeper into to work on for next season. From our team we congratulate Johan and the KMS team for winning the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles and we’ll try to take the fight to them at the final round in Germany.”

“The weekend overall has been amazing, after our win yesterday, second place today is another strong result and I’m super happy about the weekend as a whole.
Johan Kristoffersson was quite untouchable today and won his fifth World RX title so massive congratulations to him and well deserved. I was second and proud of that, I think it was the maximum I could do today.
I feel sorry for Kevin, he had one of those weekends where it doesn’t go right and disappointment sucks, but we will keep pushing, our guys are amazing and we will give our everything for the season final in Germany.”

“I don’t really know what to say, to be honest. It hurts to not have any payback this weekend for the hard work that’s been put in, on my side of the garage it just wasn’t our weekend.
We tried some things with the car but we were not fast enough early in the day. We got much better, but when you’re starting on the outside of the grid then it’s very difficult too.
We have stuff to work on for the future to find more speed. I did my best every time I was on track, when we got the car underneath me it was much better and we will keep trying to improve.”
